Ronan and Jerry made the climb up the slope. It proved to be an easy climb and did not require a rope.

Upon the ledge they discovered, a small statue of a woman with a nearby shrine. The glint which attracted the party’s attention appeared to be from the light reflecting off of a number of coins and gems in the shrine’s offering bowl. Neither Ronan nor Jerry could identify who the statue is meant to depict.

A Vision of Betrayal GM Turn Post 9

Dawn comes and with it a respite from the cold of the previous night. The party eats and breaks camp, resuming their travel through the mountain pass.

Travel through the pass proceeds much like the day before. When the party starts to make camp for the night, Jerry and Ronan both notice a glint of light coming from a ledge approximately 50 feet above the trail.

The party approached and searched the half-buried wagon. The corpses found inside were stripped of their cold weather clothing and placed outside.

Fergus tended to the bodies and prepared a Viking funeral. The cleric laid the strangers to a final rest and solved the problem of warmth for the first watch.
Fergus was able to fashion a makeshift cold weather outfit from the pelts received from the centaur, Urdel Thunderhoof. Nester, Korg, Jerry and Ronan equipped the gear. Two party members stood watch outside while the rest took shelter within the wagon with the wood-burning stove stoked to help heat the interior.
The temperature dropped dangerously during the second watch. During the first hour of their shift, Korg passed out from exposure to the cold. Jerry was able to get him into the wagon and roused Fergus to tend to the fallen sorcerer. Examination of the entire party revealed that all of the party, but Fergus, were suffering some degree of affect from the cold. The cleric channeled positive energy twice to relieve the effects of the exposure. When everyone was well, the cleric took a long pull from his flask resumed his slumber.

The party settled back and completed their rest. The spell casters relished their spells and after a modest breakfast and packing up camp, the group continued their journey.

Travel through the mountain pass proved much faster than the travel through the forest had but it also proved to be decidedly colder. When the time came to make camp for the night, the party spotted a wagon half buried in the snow in the distance.

The cat attacked the paladin with its bite. Holytrauma took 1 damage as the shouting from Korg and Jerry startled it. Jerry tumbled forward getting position behind the monster and Korg moved to the spot his friend just vacated and threatened the monster with his masterwork longspear.

The skin on the face of the cat peeled back revealing muscle and bone. As the transformation occurred, the monster looked directly at Korg and emitted a loud screech. The sorcerer was disgusted by the spectacle but was otherwise unfazed.
Ronan stood and cast Acid Splash targeting the monster but the spell missed. As Holytrama scrambled to his feet, the cat attacked with its bite which dealt 3 damage to the paladin. The Aasimar attacked the monster with his battleaxe, dealing 10 damage in return. Jerry attacked the monster from flanking with both weapons. Both struck dealing 6 damage and 9 damage respectively and killed the monster.
Fergus got to his feet but had nothing to do besides look at the dead creature. Korg was disappointed that he did not get to test out his new spear.
Before the party could catch its breath, the centaur, Urdel Thunderhoof burst into the forest clearing. He spoke to the group. “Well met friends. It appears that you have killed my prey. Thank you for the service you have provided. Please take these pelts as a small repayment. You may find these useful especially in the high regions of the Kortos Mounts. It is often extremely cold where you are heading”
Once the centaur handed over the furs, he departed again as quickly as he arrived.

A Vision of Betrayal Turn Results 5

The party made camp for the 2nd night and set a watch for the night. The shifts were determined as:

Shift 1: Fergus and Holytrama
Shift 2: Ronan and Nester (NPC)
Shift 3: Jerry and Korg
During the last shift, the camp was set upon by the large cat of which the party had been warned. The creature attempted to use stealth to attack the sleeping paladin but both Jerry and Korg spotted the monster as it was about to attack Holytrama.
