Accepting the Mayor’s offer for employment, the party lent a hand in the aftermath of the attack. While assisting the locals, they uncovered some interesting pieces of information (See DtBP: Firebrand’s Redoubt - GM TurnPost 12).

Lady Delbera Axebringe’s fortress, Firebrand’s Redoubt, is located several mile down the eastern tunnel exiting the city. This passage is known as Taggun’s Crawl. During the investigation of the attack, four dead guards were found near open tunnel gates to Taggun’s Crawl. By examining the bodies, Lady Emyralda finds small puncture wounds in their backs and signs of poison around the wounds.

DtBP: Firebrand’s Redoubt - GM Turn Post 12

Reports of other missing dwarves begin to arrive in the crowded marketplace, including dozens of members of the town guard. Mayor Bensik asks people to return to their homes and secure themselves against additional undead incursions, while Erna Stoneheart begins rallying any guards who remain unabducted and uninjured. Both the major and the guard captain ask for your assistance.

The mayor offers you a reward of 3,500 gp to investigate where these undead came from and to rescue as many of her citizens as possible.

As the situation sorts itself, the party may make skill checks to remember and/or gather additional information.

 - Gather accounts of the attack: Diplomacy
 - Recall information regarding the insignia: Knowledge (history) or Knowledge (nobility)
 - Recall information about Lady Delbra: Knowledge (history) or Knowledge (nobility)
 - Gather information from the town folk regarding Lady Delbra: Diplomacy

Stabem tumbled and flanked the monster with Cando. The halfling struck a mighty blow with his rapier and dealt 13 damage which destroyed the undead.

Ro-Mahn waited for Cando to move to flank the remaining skeletal champion. Both adventurers attacked the monster but neither was able to land a blow. Barnacleez cast a Magic Missile spell targeting the monster. The spell struck and dealt 11 damage which caused the monster to fall to pieces.

Lady Emeralda channeled positive energy to heal 10 damage from Cando and Erna.

With the threat eliminated, Wahesh moved to Lukher and helped the dwarf to his feet.

A search of the bodies revealed that each of the skeletal champions was wearing masterwork scale mail and carrying a masterwork dwarven urgrosh. Under their armor, each set of remains had a large pin of silver and onyx driven through its breastbone. Each pin has an estimated value of 400 gp.

The uniforms of the undead each had a flaming double-headed waraxe insignia. During the battle, Cando recognized this insignia as belonging to the house of Lady Delbera Axebringer. Erna and Lukher can confirm this.

A few words ...

I am back. Sorry for the radio silence. It took some time and distance to get back into the proper head space to keep this game moving.

I am re-employed and now have a couple of weeks under my belt. I can not focus on some neglected things. With everyone's help, I will do my best to keep the game moving forward.

Thanks for your patience.

Stabem moved behind the skeletal monster, tumbling to provide flanking for Cando. Ro-Mahn pulled his second weapon and attacked the monster in front of him. The blows from both the rapier and the short sword landed and dealt 6 damage and 7 damage respectively.

Cando took a mighty, two-handed swing at the monster with his double axe but missed the mark. Having paused to admire his friend, Barnacleez moved for a better view of the monster and cast Disrupt Undead. The spell missed the target due to the monster’s proximity to his friends.

Lady Emyralda moved to the center of the battlefield and channeled positive energy to heal 6 damage from Cando and Erna.

One skeletal champion attacked Ro-Mahn with its urgrosh and missed. Afterward the monster stepped away from Wahesh and toward Lady Emyralda. The other attacked Cando and hit dealing 10 damage. The monster maneuvered around Cando and away from Stabem.

Wahesh followed the monster and again attacked with is swords and missed with both. With the monster moving away, the injured Erna safely regained her feet and readied her weapon.
