GoM: The Festering Blot - GM Turn Post 29 E

Anilda accepts the mess kit knife from Cando, recognizing it as a tool rather than a weapon. She responds with a grim, “Thank you. This is much sharper than my scissors.” Turning thoughtful she continues by asking, “Have you seen my baby? Is she safe?”

GoM: The Festering Blot - GM Turn Post 29 D

Barnacleez agreed to let Anilda borrow his eyes after assurances that they would actually remain in his possession. The process struck the gnome blind but a light appeared in Anilda’s eyes. She smilled as she continued, “It is good to see you all. Quite an interesting collection of shapes, sizes, textures and colors.”

Looking at Wahesh, Anilda asked, “My scissors are dull. Do you have anything sharper?”

The girl laughs at Ro-Mahn’s stories of the Sarini family. She is obviously delighted.

At Barnacleez’s approach and his asking for her name, she switched her focus and responded to the gnome, “My name is Anilda. Your eyes are pretty. Could I borrow them briefly?”

GoM: The Festering Blot - GM Turn Post 29 B

The girl eyes each member of the party all the while absently cutting the air with her scissors. With a non-committal voice she responds, “Interesting.” Looking at Ro-Mahn she asks, “What do you know about the humans who once lived here? Do you know any stories?”

GoM: The Festering Blot - GM Turn Post 29

This dormitory-style bedroom looks tidier than other rooms in the building. A hunched figure wearing a maid’s uniform is sitting on a small bed in the northwest corner of the room.

She looks up and addresses the party. “I don’t know you. Why are you here?”

While talking, she nervously keeps snipping at the air with her scissors.

The room only has one entrance/exit.

Starting positions are displayed on the combat map.

Cando moved to the cradle and lifted the blanket with his axe to reveal a newly hatched fiendish giant centipede. Once freed from the confines of the blanket, the vermin tried to flee but was quickly dispatched by Wahesh and Cando.

After the excitement, further search of the room uncovered a silver music box worth 35 GP sitting upon the table. Sheet music for the melody that the box plays was found folded inside. Upon the back of the sheet was scrawled, “Play to access the secrets below.” Cando identified the melody as being from a popular sea chantey still sung today in the Chelish city of Remesiana.

The party gathered the treasure and moved on to the next room along the balcony.

The creaking sound of a rocking cradle echoes in the room. Dolls, wooden figurines, and clockwork toys lie abandoned on a table.

Barnacleez and Cando both commented that the three mounted heads represent the heads of the legendary beast known as a chimera.

Intrigued, Ro-Mahn examined the trophies more closely. The rogue/ranger discerned that the dragon head’s scale pattern matched that of a dragon rather than a chimera, and that the goat and lion heads belonged to ordinary animals. In his estimation, the display was an educated fake.

Between the table and the vitrine, the party recovered 125 GP worth of silver tableware.

After gathering the valuables, the party proceeded to explore the second floor. They took the path to the left and started with the first door closest to the staircase. Ro-Mahn checked it for traps. Finding none, he motioned to Cando who opened the door and stepped inside.
