DtBP: Firebrand’s Redoubt – Turn Results 56

The party gathered equipment from the fallen Duergar. Ro-Mahn examined the door to the south and found it neither trapped nor locked. The ranger rogue opened the door to reveal the room beyond.

This richly decorated bedroom features a large four-poster bed atop a raised platform. A portrait of Lady Delbera hangs from the wall at the head of the bed, and tapestries line the walls. A wardrobe, dressing table, chest of drawers, and two comfortable chairs round out the room’s furnishings. The faint smell of steel, cedar, and crushed berries still looms in the air.

Two Bone Legion skeletal champions and a humanoid creature with the legs of a bald goat, a completely hairless body, and a horned head with a sinister expression all wait at the ready. They appear to be waiting to see how you react.

The enemies lie vanquished at your feet. Nothing immediately stirs from behind any of the doors.

Stabem moved forward and tumble past the duergar to gain flanking with Wahesh. The rogue's flashing rapier dealt 17 damage and dropped the dark dwarf.

The grenadier back up to the balcony rail and tossed a fire bomb at Wahesh. The bomb landed an dealt 6 damage to the fighter. The splash caused 3 damage to Barnacleez and 1 damage each to Cando and Lady Emyralda. Lou G'Boo was unscathed. 

Ro-Mahn rushed forward and pressed the attack on the bomber. The ranger/rogue stabbed with his rapier but missed.

Cando stopped singing and moved to stand near the north and east doors. The half-or readied an attack for anyone that might emerge.

Barnacleez moved to stand over the freshly fallen duergar. The gnome cast magic missile targeting the bomber. The spell hit and dealt 13 damage.

Lady Emyralda closed with the grenadier and attacked with her scimitar. The attack missed the dexerious dark dwarf. Wahesh moved and tumbled into position to attack the remaining enemy. The fighter came up out of his roll with a longsword thrust that ran the dwarf through for 11 damage. This finished the job that Barnacleez started.

Barnacleez waited for the logjam in front of him to clear. Stabem rushed forward and stepped infrom of Cando. The rogue attacked the duergar to his left. A quick thrust of the rapier punctured the dark dwarf's armor and dealt 15 damage.

The duergar grenadier stepped forward and lobbed a fire bomb at Wahesh. The fighter took 3 damage while Cando and Lady Eymralda took 1 splash damage. Ro-Mahn and Stabem deftly dodged the danger.

Ro-Mahn moved forward past Cando and Stabem to tumble behind the wounded dark dwarf. The ranger/rogue stabbed the flanked foe with his rapier. The attack dealt 16 damage which dropped the foe.

Cando tumbled past Stabem to engage the next enemy. The half-orc began to sing a song to raise the spirits of his companions. Barnacleez stepped forward, behind Stabem, and activated his wand of magic missile. The spell hit and dealt 4 damage to the enemy warrior.

Lady Emyralda hustled past Wahesh and moved behind the duergar warrior. The cleric attacked with her scimitar. The slashing blade landed a telling blow and dealt 12 damage. Wahesh stepped into the remaining spot and took swings with both of his sword. Both weapons hit; the longsword dealing 6 damage and the short sword dealing 3 damage.

The Duergar warrior swung his warhammer at Wahesh but missed. The blood loss apparently sapping his combat prowess. The warrior stepped back to avoid being attacked from 3 sides.

DtBP: Firebrand’s Redoubt – Turn Results 53

The party agreed to investigate the upper level and returned to the staircase outside of the Great Hall. At the top of the stairs the party encountered resistance.

Stout dwarven pillars support this open stairway. A balcony overlooks the floor below. Three doors stand to the north, east, and south. The dead body of a dwarf in a Davarn town guard uniform lies on the floor here. Three duergar stand ready to resist you.

Recap - Adventure So Far

After your adventures in Saringallow, you traveled to the town of Davarn for their Spring Festival. You soon found yourselves with a patron, Lukher Stinnison, and were enrolled in the Spring Muddle. Your team went up against last year’s champions, the Davarn Chokers.

You participated in the “capture the flag”-like contest on Spinebreaker Mountain. Your team won the contest and the prize; 2500 GP, an adamantine battleaxe and a pearl of power.

After the contest, the town was attacked by undead. You managed to rescue Lukher from the clutches of several skeletal champions wearing the remnants of uniforms with the insignia a local hero, Lady Delbera. The flaming axe head is the symbol of the Firebrand Legion, a group of local heroes in Davarn with Lady Delbara was a member.

After the battle it becomes clear that dozens of townsfolk are missing and all were related to  Lady Delbera Axebringer. You agree to mount a rescue and head down the Taggun’s Crawl to seek out the former fortress of the Firebrand Legion, Firebrand’s Redoubt.

Upon arriving at the fortress, you found that the place had been overrun by duergar. Finding a secret postern gate, you managed to surprise the inhabitants as you stormed their position.You have since been exploring the Redoubt and discovered that besides the dark dwarves, the place is also haunted.

You have encountered five haunts. Each one that you defeated, provided a verse to a song or poem. You do not know how may verses there are.

You have collected four so far:

“We who court the ways of honor.” - Grand Hall

“By sweat and blood, we have come here.” - Chapel

“And wed ourselves to duty.” - Theater

“And in the blaze of both, find eternal strength.” - Foyer

You did not get one from the haunt in the Trophy Room. You experienced the haunt byt you do not think you have defeated it.

You also found a door in the great hall which you have not yet been able to open. The runs on the door read, “Those who stand against injustice, those sired by the will to defend, announce yourselves and enter.”

 It sounds like folks are in so I will dust this off and get it rolling once more.
