GoM: What Lurks in the Woods - GM Turn Post 5

As the dust settles from the goblin attack, the sound of deranged, off-key singing filters onto the field.

Ro-Mahn and Barnacleez recognize the words sung in the goblin tongue:

“Chase them! Chase them! Low and high!
Cut their eyes out, make them cry!
Cut them! Chop them! Slice them up!
Feed them to our goblin pups!”

Three goblins riding small goblin dogs come into view to the south, crossing into the field through a break in the fence.

Ro-Mahn maneuvered and attacked the goblin he was engaged. His rapier stuck true dealing 7 damage and killed the goblin. Lady Emyralda stepped into flanking with Barnacleez but could not connect with her scimitar.

The goblin swung at Barnacleez with his dogslicer. The attack hit and dealt 3 damage. The monster’s battle cry was cut short as Wahesh stepped forward and dispatched it with solid swings from his longsword and short sword that dealt 4 and 7 damage respectively.

GoM: What Lurks in the Woods – Turn Results 3

Lady Emyralda drew her scimitar and waited for the goblins to close. Barnacleez leveled his new wand, Missy, and unleashed a magic missile at the nearest goblin. The missile hit and dealt 4 damage. Ro-Mahn moved forward, under the cover of the trees. The shepherd boy ran past the party to the northwest.

The goblins clumsly shrugged of their “disguises” as they drew weapons and headed toward the party. Lady Emyralda fired her fire bolt at the same goblin that Barnacleez targeted the bolt hit the target but did not seem to have any effect. The wounded goblin charged and attacked the cleric. The dogslicer struck the halfling for 3 damage. Once the monster was up close and in her face, the cleric recognized the monster’s fiendish taint.

The next goblin charged Wahesh but its attack missed. Another moved forward to threaten the fighter and another engaged Barnacleez. The last moved forward and past the obscured Ro-Mahn. The rouge lashed out with an attack of opportunity but missed the monster. It came to a halt and attacked the rogue but missed.

Wahesh attacked the goblin in his face. The longsword hit home dealing 4 damage while the short sword missed the mark. Cando took a five-foot step and attacked the goblins engaged with Wahesh. He hit with two mighty strokes dealing 10 and 7 damage which killed both targets. Stabem maneuvered to the left and engaged the goblin attacking Lady Emyralda. The halfling hit with his rapier and dealt 3 damage and dropped the monster.

GoM: What Lurks in the Woods – Turn Results 2

The boy stopped long enough to catch his breath and point. “There were several goblins. They were in the woods to the south.” Lady Emyralda peppered to boy with more questions. “How many sheep do you have? Are your parents close? Where did you last see them?”

Ro-Mahn studied the boy to see if anything rang false with his actions or his story. The rogue was convinced of the boy’s sincerity.

Before the boy could answer further, a group of “sheep” came into view around the nearby stand of trees. Cando stared for a moment before declaring, “Those are not sheep! Those are goblins wearing sheep!” Barnacleez nodded his agreement and said, “Let’s get’em Missy” and the gnome drew a wand. At Cando's warning, Wahesh and Stabem drew their weapons.
