Stabem moved forward and to the left of the monsters. Ro-Mahn
moved to the middle and attacked the monster to the left. He stabbed it with
his magic rapier before it could raise its weapon in defense. Even though it
was not the optimum weapon, the blow still dealt 14 damage. Erna moved to the
right of Ro-Mahn and attacked the next monster but the guard captain missed her
target.
Barnacleez cast a Bull’s Strength spell upon Cando. The
half-orc charged the left-most monster and scored a hit with his double axe.
The attack dealt an additional 7 damage to the wounded monster. Once up close,
Cando identified the insignia upon the uniforms as belonging to the house of
Lady Delbera Axebringer, a local hero.
Lady Emyralda identified the monsters as undead, skeletal
champions. She called out that bludgeoning weapons would be most effective and
that elemental cold attacks would be useless. Further, she recognized that the
monsters were also trained fighters. The cleric moved up behind Ro-Mahn and
channeled positive energy to hurt the monsters. A burst of divine energy washed
over the enemies. The already damaged foe was dealt 12 damage while the rest
took just 6 damage.
The three rear-most skeletal champions attacked the targets
in front of them. Each executed a power attack and cleave. The left-most hit
Cando for 9 damage but missed Ro-Mahn on the swing-through. The middle hit
Ro-Mahn for 14 damage but missed Cando on the follow-up strike. The right-most
hit Ro-Mahn for 11 damage and caught Erna with a mighty blow from its urgrosh.
The dwarven axe landed and dealt 36 damage. The remaining skeletal champion
continued to grapple Lukher and draged the struggling dwarf away from the
scene.
Wahesh moved to Erna’s aid and attacked the monster engaged
with the dwarf. He swung his longsword but failed to connect with the monster.
