I think we just need to figure out how to get this crate and get out of here.
ReplyDeleteSecure the crate then move it with the crane.
Cast detect magic to see if anything else in here is worth looting.

The crane can be used to lift the chest but you need to determine how you are going to fasten it to the crane.
ReplyDeleteDisable device may be appropriate but it will also require some sort of plan.
I'm having trouble visualizing the tools we have to work with. Is there a rope hanging from the crane to hook the box with? Is the crane hook within reach over the pit? What kind of crane is it?
ReplyDelete"A crane, used for loading and unloading boats, clings to a rail running the length of the warehouse, hanging 5 feet below the high ceiling, and can slide out to extend past the loading doors along the west wall." Is West down on the map, with the crane running top to bottom?
Jerry has the best acrobatics (I think), I could assist with both of us using guidance we should have a good shot at staying safe getting the box secured to the crane.
Thoughts?
West is the bottom of the map.
ReplyDeleteThe crane can be used to lift the crate but somone would need to climb on the crane to tie knots and secure the harness to the chest.
Listed among the wares in the building are rope, nets, sails and timber planks. There are plenty of other things too.
Korg rubs the rapidly closing wounds on his neck, and says, "Thank you for that healing my friend... now to the task at hand; let us consider a few things here. There is a small boat tied up outside this warehouse - what if we piloted it beneath the hole, in case the floor gives way? As for how to retrieve the crate up here... if someone of sufficient strength could be lowered on a rope to grab the crate, we could then swing him back over solid floor. Or, if none of you are able, we could use those nets over there: toss one over the crate, and use ropes and the crane to hoist it to safety. What do you say?"

Korg seems to present a reasonable plan. If you plan to execute, I need to know who plans to do what and I can use the rolls you have provided (just need a set from Brad.)
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for your final plan before I post results.
I'm not sure about someone holding onto the crate, we have no idea how heavy it is. It should be secured to the crane I think. I like Korg's Plan B.
ReplyDeleteSo, My thoughts are that Jerry or I maneuver to the crate, secure it with the net and ropes. Someone else moves the crane into position, and we move the box over to open floor space. If we want to be extra safe, someone can get a boat under the hole, though I imagine that'll involve bargaining with the fishermen outside.
Noc will apply guidance to the most dangerous roll that ends up in his task list. (unless that roll is covered by a 20 of course)
