GoM: The Festering Blot - GM Turn Post 29 D

Barnacleez agreed to let Anilda borrow his eyes after assurances that they would actually remain in his possession. The process struck the gnome blind but a light appeared in Anilda’s eyes. She smilled as she continued, “It is good to see you all. Quite an interesting collection of shapes, sizes, textures and colors.”

Looking at Wahesh, Anilda asked, “My scissors are dull. Do you have anything sharper?”

Please submit your turn instructions using the Player Action Response - Turn Post Template. If you are planning to use a specific skill, please list the skill and the associated roll(s) along with your 5 d20 rolls.

Conditions:
Barnacleez - Blind
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Map Key:

Ceiling - The ceiling is 15 feet high on the estate’s ground floor and second floor.

Lighting - Areas inside the estate have normal light because of the abundance of doors and windows.

Chairs - Any squares that contain chairs are treated as difficult terrain.

Tables - With a successful DC 12 Acrobatics check, a creature can hop onto a table as part of a move action. If the creature fails this check by 5 or more, its movement ends and it falls prone.

The stairs are steep and are considered difficult terrain when ascending or descending.

Squares filled with bushes are considered difficult terrain and provide concealment (20% miss chance).

  1. Barnacleez says "Anilda, what are you cutting at with your scissors?"

(does she look like the picture to the right? doll-like? puppet-like?)

    1. "Nothing really. The sound is soothing. I like sharp tools but I do not really care for weapons."

Yes, she does look like that.

This eerie creature resembles a human with oddly segmented limbs, waxen skin, and doll-like eyes.

Barnacleez does not have the appropriate skill to identify what kind of creature she is.

  2. Can anyone in our party figure out what she is?

How long have you been here? Anyone come to play with you lately?
    What is your purpose?

    1. You need a successful Knowledge: Nature roll. Wahesh (failed his roll), Ro-Mahn and Cando (due to being a bard) all have a shot to identify her.

    2. I have just rolled a 16 after reading your email. Does that do anything?

    3. That is enough to identify Anilda as a fey creature known as a Nukkefeen.

Many scholars posit that nukkefeens originated as experiments of a powerful First World creature or creatures, and perhaps were intended to serve as assistants or researchers. Some have even tied these creatures to norns’ workshop-like lairs, positing that they may have originally acted as servants of those prescient beings. Nukkefeens’ eyes are glazed and unnatural, and though they are quite limber, their knocked knees make their gait seem uneven and stiff. Most nukkefeens resemble human
men or women, though many appear androgynous.

You may also ask on additional question.

    4. Do these creatures appear in the wild on their own, or are they always in the company of a more powerful being - summoned? Wondering if this implies there is a more powerful First World creature in this place...

If that was my question, so be it. If not, I would ask about their alignment, typically.

    5. The nukkefeens can be encountered on their own.

      Typically their alignment is neutral.

  3. I’m guessing Wahesh doesn’t have much chance of knowing what she is. Local Knowledge? D20 = 2+2 = 4 Nature Knowledge? D20 = 6+2 = 8.
    Lol, probably not.

“Sorry, Miss. The only ‘sharps’ I have are my swords and I can’t lend out my tools of the trade. Say, why don’t you join up with us! We're adventures trying to solve a huge mystery. You’re bound to come across all kinds of sharp things – sharp, blunt, green and slimy, brown and freezing – we’ve seen it all. I’m Wahesh. What’s your name?”
