Map Key:

The large S indicates the secret door at the end of the downward passage.

Ceiling - The ceiling is approximately 10 feet above the dry portion of the room.

Lighting - the room is dark without any natural light.

The stairs are steep and are considered difficult terrain when ascending or descending.

Special rules for the room:

The water is nearly 4 feet deep in the flooded area. It costs Medium or larger creatures 4 squares of movement to move into a flooded square, or characters can swim if they wish. Small or smaller creatures must swim to move through a square. Tumbling through these squares is impossible.

Pulling oneself up onto the elevated platform at the far end of the room requires a successful Climb check.

The heavy barrels in the water block movement, but it is possible to dive under them with a successful Swim check.

Getting onto a barrel requires a move action and a successful Acrobatics check. Any character who starts her turn on a barrel or jumps onto a barrel must also succeed at an Acrobatics check or fall into the water.

As a move action, a character who succeeds at a Strength check can move a barrel 5 feet. For every 5 points the check result exceed the DC, the character can move the barrel an additional 5 feet.

  1. Barnacleez's mind raced as he began to drown. He thought about hitting the release clips on his backpack to drop it into the murky water, but thought against it, thinking it would not help him swim any better. If only he were one of the big-uns, they didn't seem to have trouble water that was only four feet deep. Four feet, might as well been forty feet to him.
    He quickly went through all his assets in his mind's eye. If only he had some rope, then he could read from Reggie and animate it to save him. But alas he had no rope, and didn't even know if he could read a scroll underwater, while drowning. Well if Reggie was going to be no help, then Molly, Janet, Witcome P.Riley, Florance, Flerb, Krondor and Little Wiffllington would be no help either. Sometimes scrolls can save your bacon, sometimes you could only use them to blow your nose.

    But back to drowning, and what to do about it. If only Bucky, the bucket, weren't buried deep in his backpack. He might be able to set it on the floor and use it to stand upon. If only he had had enough money to afford a Handy Haversack, then Bucky would just rise to the top and be ready.

    At least I don't have to worry about Lou G'Boo, we were next to a column when the fight broke out, and she could just climb up it and wait.

    Well, Barnacleez thought, I'd best just try to swim, and not worry about the fight, my companions will handle it.
