GoM: The Festering Blot - GM Turn Post 2B - The Rumors

Wahesh and Cando agree that the best place to start the investigation is the Witch’s End Tavern. Alcie Kruptin smiles as the adventurers enter her establishment. She clears a place for you at the bar, wiping it down with a bar towel as she asks, “How long do you plan to visit? Will you be needing a place to stay?”

When asked about the Sarinis Estate, she claims no knowledge but she does recall that a well-known local nursery rhyme starts as follows:

“All Sarinis, red or blue, slit your throat or we’ll hang you too!”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How this works mechanically is that you spend 1d4 hours chatting up the locals and you may make a Diplomacy or Knowledge (local) check. If you succeed, you get to hear a rumor. By each increment of 5 that you succeed by, you will hear an additional rumor. During this time, chatting up NPC(s) that you know will get you an additional rumor.

Please advise which locations and order you plan to visit them. A set of 5d20 rolls should be enough.

There are a finite number of rumors and they are determined randomly. Duplication may be encountered.

  1. On behalf of Joe:

Wahesh would like to visit Father Ildrus and Nolaria at the temple since they were cool and helpful before.

Then Majara Pricknettle at her potion shop. We kind of got off on the wrong foot before but she seems like maybe she'd know something. I'd also like to ask how Gellion is doing, and extend my condolences.

And then back to the tavern because talking to people is thirsty work.

I got my local knowledge skill working since my diplomacy is meh.

  3. Cando will split up from Wahesh to cover more ground, lets meet up back at the tavern in 1d4 hours... ;)

I would like to stop in to see Gellion first, then visit the haberdashery, and Gunty's bread shop. IF there is time, I'll head down to the docks and ask about any strangers come to town asking about the estate in the last few months...

    Knowledge local now! +6
