Seeing that the Vazarros were in good hands, the party
decided to take up Ildris Ruvarra’s offer for rest and shelter. Lady Emyralda
did what she could to aid the ailing family. Her efforts greatly improved their
physical condition but could do nothing for their state of weakness. The halfling
concluded that stronger magic and time were required to correct that problem.
In the morning, the Pathfinders rose rested and ready to
continue their investigation. After having a bite to eat, the party was
summoned by Father Ildris. The cleric said, “The patients, though weak are now
able to talk. I think that you need to hear what they have to say.”
Interviewing Gellion’s parents proved fruitful. Altius and
Beldonna revealed that their son has been acting quite oddly lately, consumed
by some sort of strange alchemical experiments. They recently heard him ranting
about a warehouse, and they saw him heading in the direction of their
acquaintance Marcuccio Bravoni’s warehouse with one of his friends, Morvinarr. The
tavern-keeper’s apprentice appeared quite drunk, which Altius and Beldonna
found unusual. When they went to confront Gellion after a terrible racket in
his room, they discovered the spider within, along with a “horrible little
blood-stained man.” The rest was pain and suffering.
The Vazarros provide directions to their friend’s warehouse
(#4 on the Saringallow map).
As they were about to leave the church to investigate the
warehouse, the party was approached by the mayor. She asked for a status update.
When told of what had been found, Sandra Trinelli, nodded solemnly and said, “The
warehouse seems like a sensible place to resume the search. Given the nature of
what you have already encountered, it may be best if we clear the surrounding
streets before you head in. I will have the guards come up with some pretext or
another. Not to worry.”
With the mayor’s blessing, the Pathfinders left the church
and headed toward the warehouse. As they drew near, the party fell victim to a
spell. A sense of overwhelming fear spread across the group. A tiny, winged
monster with a thin and wiry body and a twisted head with ram horns curling back
was in their midst. Barnacleez and Cando were compelled to run from the
creature while Ro-Mahn, Lady Emyralda, Wahesh and Stabem were merely shaken by its presence.
