GoM: The Festering Blot - GM Turn Post 17

Two large tables flank an oven built into the west wall of this kitchen. Jars of different sizes sit on the two tables in uneven rows. A narrow set of stairs leads down to a dark, musty basement.

What do you do next?

Starting positions are displayed on the combat map.

Please submit your turn instructions using the Player Action Response - Turn Post Template. If you are planning to use a specific skill, please list the skill and the associated roll(s) along with your 5 d20 rolls.

Conditions:

None

Map Key:

Ceiling - The ceiling is 15 feet high on the estate’s ground floor and second floor.

Lighting - Areas inside the estate have normal light because of the abundance of doors and windows.

Chairs - Any squares that contain chairs are treated as difficult terrain.

Tables - With a successful DC 12 Acrobatics check, a creature can hop onto a table as part of a move action. If the creature fails this check by 5 or more, its movement ends and it falls prone.

Squares filled with bushes are considered difficult terrain and provide concealment (20% miss chance).

  1. Cando will assist in examining the jars, see if anything in them is good/fresh, keeping one eye on the stairs. Will also check the oven, see if it looks recently used or not.

  3. "So, you guys want to save the basement for dessert?"

Are there any bodies in the oven?
Does the place seem like it's been long-abandoned, any tracks in the dust, etc.?

Is there anything else in the pantry?

  4. Ro-Mahn cocks an eyebrow at Cando. "Not sure I'd want anything here, mate -- fresh or no."

I will join the once-over of the kitchen.

  5. After searching the room, which way do you plan to go; down, west or south?

  6. I am OK with leaving the basement for 'dessert' as others have said. Lets go West.

  7. While once a well-stocked kitchen, this room now contains only dirty jars, shelves, and barrels. The only thing of value that you find is a well-sealed, 5 pound keg of salt. It is worth 25 gp.

The oven has not seen recent use. The dusty floor has been disturbed by the movement of many creatures. Ro-Mahn figures that these are tracks of mites.

Stairs - are steep and are considered difficult terrain when ascending or
    descending.

  8. Head counter click wise. Door to the west now. Keep moving like that until we get back to the stairs (Saving them for Desert).

  9. West door is fine. For pacing/build-up we'll do the basement last, cuz' that's where all the really gnarly shiz goes down. That's just science (:
