GoM: What Lurks in the Woods - GM Turn Post 2

The homesteads nearest the city belong to farmers. When asked about the recent goblin sightings, the farmers point the party further up the road. Eventually, the dirt roads give way to smaller, worn-down trails. Pastures thick with green grass and dotted with sheep and other livestock replace the rows of wheat and vegetables. Soon, you can faintly make out the sound of running water nearby.

As the party nears a stream, a young shepherd bolts across one of the nearby fields, clearly terrified by something behind him. He shouts and gestures frantically toward whatever he’s fleeing. “I saw them!” he screams. “Goblins! They’re in the woods! They took our sheep! You have to do something!”

What do you do?

  1. Ask the boy which direction are the goblins how many? How many sheep do you have? Are your parents close? Where did you last see them.

    Give us some help.

  2. Listen to the answers given by the boy; I want to make sure I charge off in the right direction! Use perception to scan the tree line for signs of movement: 16 +5 = 21

    Initiative: 8 +2 = 10

    Advance towards spot indicated by boy, single move action - readied attack.

  4. We need to know where the bad guys are. Did he come from the river or that clump of trees at E7?
    Also, sense motive to see if he's luring us into an ambush: 12. (Yep, looks legit)

  6. Look to see if the boy's being pursued. We should get him to take us where he saw the goblins, however, the presence of a map makes me think they will come to us?
    Team -- do we prefer hand to hand or stay back and shoot?
    If we're set on advancing, I'll advance.
